Our goal at AKE is to provide your child with the highest quality of service. Appointments may be made via phone or in person during normal business hours. Because we know your time is valuable, we make every effort to stay on schedule.
First time patients are asked to come to the office at least 15 minutes prior to their appointment to complete administrative information. To reduce waiting time, these forms are available in our patient services section to complete prior to your child's appointment. Please bring your current insurance card and photo ID. Non-parent guardians should also bring a current power of attorney. We will make copies of these documents for our records.
Cancellations:
Please call us at least 24 hours prior if you are unable to make your appointment time. We prefer to have the opportunity to offer time to other patients. If you have 3 consecutive no-show appointments or cancellations the day of the appointment, a fee will be applied to your account.
We require 48 hours notice to cancel "audiology only" appointments AND allergy test appointments because of the limited number of these appointments that the audiologist and allergy technician has to dedicate for testing. If an "audiology only" appointment OR allergy test appointment is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, or you simply fail to show up for the appointment, a charge will be applied to the account unless a note is provided from the child's physician indicating that illness was the reason.
Telephone calls:
Our office staff has been trained to answer most questions. If they are unable to answer your question, your question will be relayed to Dr. Burton. Once the answer is obtained, a staff member will call you back. If this is not an urgent matter, you will usually be called back during the lunch hour or at the end of the day. If your call involves medication, please have the name and telephone number of your pharmacy available. Dr. Burton may be reached after-hours by calling our main office number. After-hours consultations are reserved for urgent and emergent problems only. All other calls will be handled during our normal business hours.
Fees:
Copays for insurance will be collected when you arrive for your child's office visit. At the end of the examination, you will receive an itemized charge slip for your records. We will file your insurance for you. For surgical procedures, we will precertify them with your health insurance company. Deductible and coinsurance payments must be made prior to the surgical procedure. If you have any questions concerning charges from this office, please feel free to discuss them with our practice manager directly via telephone at 770-953-1414 or by email.
Please let us know if there are any other questions not answered. Everyone in this office has been trained as a professional and as a team member. We take pride in our capability to serve you and your children. We look forward to a mutually satisfactory relationship.
