TYPES OF HEARING AIDS:

BODY STYLE: Contains the microphone, amplifier, receiver, battery and control settings in a case which may be clipped to the wearers clothing or worn in a pocket or special case. A cord carries the electrical impulses to a receiver, which is coupled to the patient's ear through the use of a custom-fitted plastic earmold.

BEHIND THE EAR (BTE): Contains the microphone, amplifier, receiver and battery in a case which is worn over the ear and coupled to the patient's ear through the use of a custom-fitted plastic earmold.

IN THE EAR (ITE): Contains the microphone, amplifier, receiver and battery, which are worn in a case that is custom-fitted to the ear that fits the entire concha as well as the external ear canal.

IN THE CANAL (ITC): Contains the microphone, amplifier, receiver and battery, which are worn in case that is custom-fitted to the ear that fits into the canal portion of the ear.

COMPLETELY IN THE CANAL (CIC): Contains the microphone, amplifier, receiver and battery, which is worn in a case that is custom fitted to the ear that fits down into the bony portion of the ear canal and is the least visible of the ear level hearing aid styles.
